Running UNIT tests on students' code

Hi all,

I was thinking to use moodle for a programming course. Every week students have some exercises to solve (in C) and it would be nice to allow them to load the code on moodle and to show if their code behave corretly to some unit test written by the teacher.

Is it possible with moodle? would be easy to implement?

cheers,

Diego

Re: Running UNIT tests on students' code

Hi Diego,

Something which may fit the bill for you is the Virtual Programming Lab created by the Computer Science Department of the ULPGC (University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) in Spain. There is also a forum topic here on the Moodle site for the module: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=154988

My institute has just implemented a test instance of it to investigate its usefulness for teaching Java programming - it looks very promising thus far.

I imagine that the Unit Testing functionality you require should be satisfied by what the module refers to as "test cases" to automatically evaluate student code for correct/incorrect output.

Hope this helps!
