When I installed demo version Moodle 2.4.1 I got the error message:
So using FTP I uploaded file, unzipped and tried to install from my server directory, but I got the error
"Please enter a package directory"
Please what should I be doing to install correctly

I'm not sure what you were uploading and to where but it sounds like you were perhaps trying to install Joomdle in Joomla. I haven't looked at Joomdle for awhile so I'm not sure what their install package consists of but I usually get this error in Joomla when I haven't realised that the zip file I have downloaded and then tried to install in Joomla has other zip files which first need to be extracted.
