Concept field grayed out on add new glossary item

Whenever I try to add a new entry to a glossary, the "Concept:" field is always grayed out so that I cannot type anything in the box. After typing a definition, I save the new entry and get the following error message:

Concept and definition are mandatory fields.

Then I'm presented with the screen again. This time the "Concept:" field is now editable. Is this normal behavor?

As a side note, I do type a definition in the first screen, so why it's being flagged in the error message is another puzzle to me.

Hi TIA and ciao,

Thanks for your reply. Our version of Moodle is 1.4.3. Our server is Linux. My computer is Windows XP Pro SP2. My browser is IE 6.0.2900. I made before and after screen shots and combined them into one picture which I have attached. Thanks for your help with this.

Andy
