UCLA is trying to use Moodle for our language placement exams, but one challenge is that incoming users of Asian languages, while potentially capable of writing those scripts long-hand, cannot necessarily type them effectively. Therefore, I've been given the task of trying to figure out how to capture handwriting and incorporate it into (ideally) the Quiz Module.
I'm curious to know if anyone has any experience or ideas about using tablets, either drawing tablets (e.g., Wacom) or "smart" tablets (e.g., iOS, Android) to capture handwriting. I'm less interested with handwriting recognition for Asian scripts, in large part because I believe that will be crazy difficult (if not, by all means let me know). But even just capturing writing as an image and passing that to Moodle somehow would be interesting to me, and potentially sufficient for my users.
