I've tried several times to install.
If I gave someone temporary access to my site, could they install Moodle for me. What could I expect to pay for that service/
Richard, there is a list of Moodle partners. You could find the one nearest you and give them a call, but of course this is the internet and many of them course do this for you. I'm sure there is an FAQ that answers this for somewhere.
It does of course depend what you specifically want. PHP skills, install skills are reasonably generic, and just for a 'simple' Moodle install your system admin people may be able to do this for you. (I know 'simple' is hard to define)
The question really is a little bit too vague to answer more specifically here.
did you still need help installing?
Let's assume you are not a large establishment with more than a thousand students. There are many individuals and small private schools who wish to expand and who are interested in Moodle for the fact being it is open source and free, saving small business a lot of additional costs. Any friend or colleague familiar with Linux Ubuntu, PHP, mysql, and apache2 should be able to help you install Moodle.
Do you have a website? Choose a host experienced in Moodle and offering a Moodle 2.7 one click install service. They should charge only about $5 a month. There are many such hosts, just google with Moodle web host and find them.
Another option. Try Gnomio.com, its free to try out. There are some annoying adverts for your students, but if you like it you can have the adverts removed for 15 Euro a month.
