We use moodle 1 mostly to organise resources so students can access them easily. Resources are mostly MS-Word documents but also MS-Excel, PDF, html etc.
It takes a long time to update a resource doesn’t it! Delete existing resource. Upload new one from local machine. Very tedious.
We found a way to access the files directly, which means we can edit and save them directly on the moodle server. Updates are ‘live’ as soon as the new version is saved. (Basically, we can use Windows Explorer to open the moodle server folder like any other file folder).
I understand that with moodle 2 this will not be possible. I don’t think I’ll be using moodle now because it takes too long to update existing resources. If I open a file through moodle, it is always read-only – even if it’s a file I wrote and uploaded myself. Why?
