Is there anyway to hide the notice 'Edited by.....' after an edit is made?

Could you try deleting it before you save?

Unfortunately it doesn't show until after I save.

Well, actually, I went to re-edit & then deleted the 'Edited by...' & then nothing shows.

the edited by is inserted in a post if it is edited after the mails with the original content were sent, so there is indication that the online version is different.
