Course completion block does not correctly reflect activities completed.

Wondering if anyone else has encountered the same problem. When a student completes or checks an activity (the cron job runs and) the course completion block shows they have completed the activity if they then uncheck it the block does not update at all and still reports that item or activity as complete.
Any ideas how to get it to correctly update/reflect the users completed items/activities?
