Hi, I am using Moodle 2.3.1 and I have addede the latet news block in the Front Page. I want to now if it is possible to set this block in the way that be neccesary to log in for showing the details.

I may have misread the original enquiry but would #3 be better? Remove Guest from the view block capability. Apologies if I've mis-interpreted this.

I am having a problem with the latest news block. It isn't displaying for a student. We are running 2.4.4. Here is what I have checked. I checked the permissions in the latest news block and students were allowed to see the block.
This particular course has groups, so I added a new item using all participants and I added a new item to a certain group.
I have deleted the block and then added it back.
I have tried different themes.
Now I am out of ideas on why students can't see this block. Thanks for any suggested you might have.
