Setting Author of Mysterious Automated Welcome Emails | v.2.3.1

When students enrol on a course, they say they then receive a welcome email from Moodle, signed by the course leader.

1. I am the course leader, but I do not remember every having written a welcome email. - Is this automated, and if so, can it be switched off?

2. The email is signed by one of the other teacher members on the course, but, to my knowledge, he never wrote that message! If automated emails are going out, how does one set who their author is for Moodle?

Many thanks.

I don't know the answer to all of these questions.

See http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Enrolment_FAQ#How_can_the_course_welcome_message_be_disabled.3F to find out how to switch OFF the message.  It is in the enrolment plugin, and I suspect a teacher role can't do this.

As to who it picks to send the e-mail I have no idea how Moodle chooses.

Possibly even more mysterious - there is just a blank space in the documentation
http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Enrolment_FAQ#How_can_we_set_which_e-mail_address_the_welcome_message_comes_from.3F

I think the teacher's name & address are used but we have a course with no teacher assigned, so it is presumably taking the name of the course creator. It's hard to check and would be nice to be able to change it.

So I hope someone who knows will give us some insight.
