Installing Moodle in Ubuntu Server

I have a computer with Ubuntu Server and a LAMP Stack installed. I've downloaded the zip archives to my laptop and unziped them to a folder. Can I copy that folder into the /var/www/ directory and then install moodle from the web browser?

Yes, and there is a lot of information about the little traps in the Moodle Docs about this. (I can't give you the pointer as I seem to be having some issue with them right now.)
