Serious error, unable to set up site! error with 1.4.4+ install

Hi Folks,

Just got the "Serious Error...blah blah blah" when seeting up a new site from scratch using the latest (downloaded about an hour ago) 1.4.4+

The problem occurs immediately after putting in the site name and description.

I never get a chance to create an admin user.

Guest works but a fat lot of good that is

I'm now downloading 1.4.4 stable and will test with that in case the problem is at my end...but I've done *Loads* of these so far with no problems.

Anyone else seen this with a recent 1.4.4+?

OK, using 1.4.4 stable does not give this error...the installation continues through to the end as normal.

So I assume that the problem is in the last build of 1.4.4+

I had the same problem last night and this morning I installed the stable 1.4.4 with no issues. I do like this software after getting it installed.

I have just fixed this error in 1.4.4+ and in 1.5 dev. It will be available with the next daily build.

More details? Database make and model? OS? PHP version? Anything else you make think is relevant.

Moodles newest install 1.44
os windows xp
running apache 2
phpmyadmin 2.32
mysql 3.23.52
php 4.3.6

this install from 2 different machines same os
refuses connection from any other than itself
as localhost/moodle/
the older version runs successfully
on the same machine
http://10.35.104.152/moodle/ loads the index.php
when browsing to a link... the error Connection refused when attempting to contact to local host
I hope these details shed more light.

Kirsten -- yours is a different error. Your DB details are configured wrong probably.
