Total marks not correct

Total marks not correct

We are using Moodl 2.3. An instructor is having trouble with quiz TOTAL marks not corresponding to a total of the individual question default marks. This is happening for a number of quizzes in this instructor's course, but here's a simple example:

She has a quiz with 8 multiple-choice questions drawn from two separate categories. There are no random questions. Each question is worth 1 default mark point. However, the "Total Marks" for the 8-question quiz comes to 14.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks,

Sharon

It is supposed to work like that. Many people like their quizzes to be out of a total of 100 or 10, irrespective of how many questions there are. Anyway, you can edit the Maximum grade for the quiz at the Edit quiz page.

Or, do you really mean Total of marks, not Maximum grade? In that case, you may be seeing MDL-32791, which has been fixed, so you need to upgrade.

Thank you for answering so quickly. Yes, it sounds like it might be the bug because we could change the max grade to 8, but the "total marks" did not reflect what SHOULD have been the total marks if each of the 8 questions got 1 point/default mark each. We're currently at 2.3. Sounds like we need to go to 2.3.2.

In the meantime, I've found that deleting the quiz and re-creating it is a satisfactory workaround.

Thanks for your help!
