It's pretty self-explanatory. It determines which filter is applied first, which is applied second, etc.

That' clear, but what is the sense, to sort the filter?
Is it better to apply first the autolinking and than the wordcensor or the tex-Filter?
In which situation I should change the sort?

I think that for most, if not all, of the current filters the order in which they are applied does not matter. But certainly one could write filters where the order does matter.
