Hi,
I hope someone can help me. We are running 2.2 on heart internet and we rarely have more than 5 students online at the same time. Pages are taking between 10 and 20 seconds to load and its driving us nuts.
Can anyone help please.

Hi Annie,
I once used moodle v2.2 and never had problem about slow responses from moodle. You said you put it on internet, so there are at least 2 possibilities regarding connection speed and bandwidth:
1. the speed and bandwdth of Hosting company to internet
2. the speed and bandwdth of Your workstation to internet
You can verify which one is causing problem by trying to access your moodle site from fast public internet. Or if you don't mind tell us the url of your moodle site.
The other potential problem is processing power of your web hosting. If the load and traffic on your web hosting is high (such as on a heavily shared hosting), then you might get slow responses.
Hi Al,
Thanks so much for responding.
I've been with heart internet for over 10 years and never had a problem with the websites speed until the past few weeks. Also been on unlimited broadband ever since I can remember. It's not just me having the problem its every user on site, and it's only happened since we made the move to 2.2 in July. First thing in the morning (UK time) everything seems fine or at least better than in the evening.
Last night I went through admin and hid all activities and blocks that we don't use.
I also turned off anything we didn't need that would affect performance such as stats.
I reduced log history and grades to 365 days but then panicked and put it back to 1000 days as I wasn't sure whether it would delete the grades or just the history of changes - we have students who have been on the course for 5 years and I don't want to lose their grades.
One thing that we have been bothered with lately is people registering just to spam their profiles with links. I change these links to our home page first and then delete the user. I can't see how this would affect page loads thou.
The site did seem to improve for the 5 mins I was still on last night but I was too tired to test it further. I'm hoping that the changes I made will improve performance, but if not I need to know what else I can do.
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Annie,
I am only just returning to these forums, so forgive me if this has been said before. Have you tried using Google Chrome as your browswer. With the set up we have, I have given up on IE on Moodle 2, I am told IE 9 will be OK, but that is not installed at our place. Mike McD
IE has been a terrific waste for us, especially under compatibility conditions. IE also breaks the gradebook view for students and instructors.
We've been strongly encouraging the adaptation of Chrome or FF.

HI,
Yes, of course move it. I have read through a lot of what is on there and the honest truth is that I don't understand a lot of what was said on there. I get lost half way through the posts.
