I have coded a "whatsnew" block displaying a list of (suscribed) courses with something new since last login.
It displays these informations only on the main page (not in the courses)
Any feedback would be highly appreciated.
You do not say whether your whatsnew block works in Moodle 1.5DEV. I tried to install it and got this error message:
Fatal error: Class 'MoodleBlock' not found in C:\Moodle4Windows\htdocs\moodle15\moodle\blocks\whatsnew\block_whatsnew.php on line 7
the code I posted yesterday do not work with 1.5dev (block structure has changed between the two versions)
I have made changes to the code: the attached file should work with 1.5dev.
I've downloaded the version of your new block for 1.5dev but I see nothing. Could you post a screen dump showing what that block is supposed to look like on a site's home page?
Should the block's name appear in Admin/Configuration ?
When I am logged on (as me) I can see a blank block when editting is on (it's called new and is empty) and nothing appears when it is off (on the front page). I have also tried 'log on as ..' to see what students see but again nothing is visable.
The block is named "New" because I ask (function get_string) for this word. A better name could be "updated courses" or something like that (which is not presently in the translated strings)
If there hasn't been any course update since your last login, the block won't display anything (and does not show).
Last: this block is only usefull when browsing the main page.
