How could this be done?

Hi

We currently deliver a national qualification in the UK called Edexcel BTEC in Music Technology.

The qualification consists of a number of units or modules covering various subject areas e.g. Unit 29 Studio Production Process

To make life easy most colleges just do projects based on a single Unit. Unfortunately we seem to be missing the 'making life easy' gene and so we have gone for the more complicated approach of setting up a series of real world projects and then mapping various aspects of the projects back to the appropriate Units.

This makes for a better course BUT a bit of a nightmare mapping exercise. Until now we have done this ourselves, firstly on an Excel spreadsheet and then on a fairly crude piece of software written in php.

We are considering moving to using Moodle next September and it would be fantastic if we could do everything on Moodle rather than having several different systems to run everything.

What this would require is a way of setting up both the original Units and the day to day Projects on Moodle in such a way that when a project is marked by a tutor this then automatically marks the relevant section of the original Unit.

Does this sound doable for someone who had a reasonable grasp of php or am I entering into dangerous territory?

Does anyone have any quick suggestions either of how to approach this or of an alternative way of achieving the same results?

Any thoughts much appreciated

David
