You can do that or in 2.3 you can go to
- SITE ADMINISTRATION
- / > PLUGINS
- / > ACTIVITY MODULES
- / > MANAGE ACTIVITIES
and delete it there. The advantage to doing this is that it will clean up the database as well. I would suggest trying this and then reinstalling the module. Make sure that you have your permissions and ownership set correctly.
