2.3 How to remove Moodle logo in footer/header?

Hi~

I would like to remove the Moodle logo in the footer of my sites home page and maybe replace it with another.

I searched and found how to do this in other versions, but not Moodle 2.3.

I'd also like to remove the word moodle from the header. <meta name="keywords" content="moodle, " />

I am using the standard theme.

I may also be interested in putting my logo in the header on the home page. Possible in the standard theme?

Anybody there? I looked through every css file in the standard theme and there is no .sitelink. Where is this hidden?

Take a look in the pix directory.

Yeah thanks for your reply, I found where the logo is I just can't find it in the css.

If I just delete I'll get a 404, not a biggy, but I'd like to possibly put my logo there and link to my other site.

The other thing is where is the link? Moodles logo links back to the moodle site.

You could replace the file with a single white pixel.

I still don't know about the css, but the link can be changed here in outputrenderers.php: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=167398

And you can replace the moodlelogo.gif in the pix folder with yours. You can name it what you want and change it in the link above.

All you need to do is remove the home link code in layout/frontpage.php and layout/general.php, and add the following instead. You need to add a logo of your own into your theme's pix directory and call it sitelogo.jpg (.gif or .png whichever it happens to be)

<!-- START OF FOOTER -->
    <div id="page-footer">
        <p class="helplink">
        <?php echo page_doc_link(get_string('moodledocslink')) ?>
        </p>

        <?php
        echo $OUTPUT->login_info();
        echo $OUTPUT->home_link();
        echo '<p class="homelink"><a href=" ' . $CFG->wwwroot . ' " title="Home"><img src=" ' . $OUTPUT->pix_url('sitelogo','theme') . ' alt=""  /></a></p>';
        echo $OUTPUT->standard_footer_html();
        ?>

        ?>
    </div>

Hi,

If you OPEN anomaly/style/general.css using Notepad and ADD the following CSS to the very end of that CSS files it will make that white block disappear...

.sitelink {visibilityhidden;}

You will need to Purge all caches in

Site Administration > Development > Purge all caches

Hope this helps?

According to what I see the footer logo is located at http://elearningbyexperts.com/pix/logo.jpg

Since your lms is located at

http://elearningbyexperts.com/lms/ i looks like you have re-coded the them. I could be wrong on that bit. In any case go to http://elearningbyexperts.com/pix/ and upload a 30 x 254 jpg image called

logo.jpg Remember to use all lower case.

Also look at http://elearningbyexperts.com/lms/pix/ and do the same thing there

Adding a logo to the banner will require a tad more thought.

Re: 2.5.1 How to remove Moodle logo in footer/header?
Group Moodle Course Creator Certificate holders

Recently, I removed the Moodle logo in the footer of Afterburner theme. I went to  the cpanel> moodle>theme/afterburner/layout/default.php. I simply commented out the reference to the image under

<!-- START OF FOOTER -->

All good...logo gone.

However, now upon clicking the login button on the "Returning to this web site?" page;

  • The first click prompts me to download an image that I placed in the footnote section of the Afterburner theme. If I cancel the download prompt (or even if I don't) then
  • The second click of the login button takes me into the site.

Ideas?

There is a setting somewhere in Moodle admin settings, might be under security, which if enabled forces images to download, so you will need to disable that to stop it.

Thanks for the suggestion... however I didn't locate such a button in site admin. Also, I must be missing something. Why does clicking the log in button trigger me to download an image from a server file in the first place. The initial click of the log-in button doesn't even take me into the site. I have to click the button a second time to even enter my site. I must have something "rong"mixed

There doesn't seem anything wrong with the default.php so my only suggestion is to look at the way you are adding the image in the 'footnote' custom setting.

Can you explain to me exactly what you have added in terms of HTML to add the image in the footnote?

Hi,

Thanks for the help Mary...

In the Footnote section of the afterburner theme (theme_afterburner I footnote) in the text editor

  • I typed a tagline.
  • I clicked the add image icon.
  • Because that editor doesn't permit me to upload an image, I then inserted (pasted) a URL location from an image in my private files into the Image URL field.
  • I saved changes.

I didn't bother the HTML directly but I pasted its contents below for you to see.

<p>Put your professional development in check <img src="http://complianced.org/moodle/draftfile.php/5/user/draft/498820679/Logo%20on%20White%20Thumb.png" height="20" width="20" /> </p>

Thanks again

Hi,

You can't use an image that is 'Private' as this is restricted to only you when you are Logged in.  You need to have an image that is accessible to everyone.

Re: 2.5.1 How to remove Moodle logo in footer/header?

Well my good lady, it appears that no matter where I get the image from any image placed in that theme Footer editor box and the login button prompts me to first download the image before it will log me in. When there is no image-simply text-logging on is trouble free.

So, this is certainly such a miniscule issue that I'm not even going to bother with it anymore. I'll just substitute the moodle icon for another through the pix directory in the footer.   But, thanks for looking at this. I see you attending to huge issues and I appreciate you looking at such a slight one! cool

This is not a trivial thing...this is annoying and needs fixing.

It works if you add an image like the logo you have...here is a screen capture I did just now testing this for you:

As you can see it works OK.

Try adding this image as a test...

Re: 2.5.1 How to remove Moodle logo in footer/header?

Coolcool, if you say so I'm with you!

So I can see that you added the image. I have tried several images of varying sizes and file types. They all work. The nuisance is what happens after I put the image in. To be clear- in every instance (and browser )and after purging;

If there is no image in that footer section-just typed text-then:

  •  I log out of my site
  • I click the login button to return to my site.
  • I'm directly back into my sitebig grin

else:

There is an image in that footer section-using that URL method-then:

  • I log out of my site.
  • I click the login button to return to my site.
  • I am prompted to download the image I placed in the footer.
  • I click cancel.
    • Mind you, I'm still not yet into my site.
  • I click the login button a second time.
  • I'm back into my site.

And yes, that is annoying and it may need fixing. But I figured there are much greater concerns in the Moodleverseapprove.
