User friendliness of External Tool config UI

User friendliness of External Tool config UI

Hi,

I'm curious as to the status of basic LTI consumer support in Moodle.

There are two consumers, the 'core' one which I think was written by Moodle Rooms after being forked from basiclti4moodle and basiclti4moodle itself. I've been experimenting with adding lti tools into Moodle using both consumers and the experience from a course teacher's perspective seems far better with basiclti4moodle. When a LTI tool is configured using blti4m it just appears as any other Moodle activity, whereas the core consumer requires a teacher to know the launch URL - how likely is that? With the core consumer it's also blatantly obvious that the activity is an 'External Tool', which, IMHO just seems pointless.

Are there any plans to merge the two projects? It seems odd to have two different projects doing LTI, especially when the non 'core' one appears to offer a more user friendly experience.

Cheers,

Adrian.
