Given the UML specifications are about 1500 pages, you might want to be a little more clear about what you are asking for.
You could probably easily get your own ERD of the Database, which should be very useful, by attaching excel to it via an ODBC connection. It think that the other main diagrams (activity, use case, sequence, etc..) would be very complex...

I need only UML basics to understand the software structure, or its functioning. I don' t want all UML specifications.

German- I wish I could help you, but i've been more on the end user side. I would suggest that doing a full install is the first step, and then generate an ERD for the DB. After that it couldn't hurt to look at the files stored in teh various directories.
There may be other developers here who have some kind of formal documentation, but I tend to believe that good code is self-documenting, and documentation is hard to keep current, particularly in something that's updated as often as moodle.

I don't know much about the programming side of Moodle, but I guess a better place to ask these questions could be the Using Moodle course. You might also want to have a look at section 4 (development news and discussion) in that course.

I have a student doing a Master thesis on Moodle customization at ULPGC that will love this. Actually, I will love it, could be very useful for the institution.

Enrique - I'm afraid what I meant was that the UML SPECIFICATION is 1500 pages long. I've taught OO, and it's kind of a mess. What happens when too many technical theorists get together to do something conceptual. I do find some of the standards useful though.
