Good evening all. 

In the olden days, it was possible to create a wiki that only the teacher could edit. I was fond of this as a way of providing an introduction to my site. But it seems to be no longer possible.

Or are there settings that I am not aware of.

Yes, you could take away the permission for students for the activity (or indeed the whole site if you are Admin ... not recommended!)

However, if you are creating a document that everyone should be able to read but not edit I think you would be better sticking with a Page - why not ?

More complex requirements can be created with a Book or Lesson.
