Repository area for code snippets and hacks

Repository area for code snippets and hacks

Our Moodle installation at www.fifthstate.com has been live now for less than a week and already there have been a number of requests and suggestions for minor changes and some not so minor new features.

I was wondering if there was any central repository for hacks and snippets. I've had a look but can't find anything.

Looking through the forums its seems that many people hack Moodle but very few of these hacks seem to be listed on the forums.

I'm an experienced programmer but it is still always easier to start with someone else's work than to re-invent the wheel and for those who are less into coding, a few lines of code with a few accompanying lines of explanation could make Moodle life a lot easier.

If there isn't already such depository, could we start one? I expect another forum on this site under the developer area would do the job.

Generally, if you post a thread along the lines of, "I'm going to be wriing such and such feature", or "I need to make the following hack", then if it's been done before and people know about it, they can direct you to the relevant thread where there's more info and/or a patch.

I don't know about other projects, but the NZVLE project has a public arch repository, http://lists.eduforge.org/cgi-bin/archzoom.cgi/arch-eduforge@catalyst.net.nz--2004?expand where you can browse all our customisations.

If you're versed in arch, you can register http://nzvle.eduforge.org/arch-mirror

And as MD says, you can look in contrib too.
