MathType works via copy & paste (it doesn't integrate into the toolbar), and will work with 1.97. To use it with the Moodle TeX filter, you would follow the steps outlined here. To use it without the Moodle TeX filter, follow those steps except instead of choosing "Moodle: TeX filter", choose "Google Docs" (which is somewhat of a general-use option).
