As part of my course grading process, I need to track "attendance" or "participation". Since this is a non-f2f course, physical attendance is an impossibility, and since the course is much larger (no. of students) than planned, even live chat is probably not an option, even in groups.
What I'd like to do is know how much time students were engaged in a page (hopefully looking at it and not watching tv in the other room, still better if a page could have a "time out" limit of, say, 15 minutes (or even, set for each page).
GISMO seems to work from the data in the logs, and so far as I can tell, logs show the time a page was (first) accessed.
Any ideas? I believe some of the commercial online learning management systems can do this. Unfortunately, I'm not technologically proficient, haven't done any programming in 15 years, and that only BASIC and a little Pascal. But I've got some money burning a hole in my pocket to share if someone felt a moderate need to do this project but needed a bit of financial incentive to get to it sooner rather than later.
