Here's a patch I've been working on that allows you to have an "unlimited" number of choices - I've tested it on mysql. postgres "might" work - but I haven't tested it. don't install this on a production box, as it will alter your tables. - the code still needs a bit of work, - upgrading works fine, but backup/restore doesn't(yet) - also there are some inconsistencies with the code....
The standard choice mod has 2 tables choice and choice_answer, the choice_answer table stores the responses of users.
inside the choice table there are 6 "answer" fields - answer1, answer2, answer3, answer4, answer5, answer6
these fields store the different options inside the choice.
Here's my problem - to allow "unlimited" choices within the choice module I need to create a new table. - it will store all the possible "answers" a choice can have.
I have 2 options for naming this new new table:
I can rename the old "choice_answer" table to "choice_responses" (like the quiz mod) and then use a new table called "choice_answer" that stores the possible "answers" a choice can have.
I can create a new table called "choice_questions" which stores all the possible "answers" a choice can have, but then use the convention "question" to refer to the possible "answers"
- This is the way the file I have provided here is implemented, (still inconsistent, as some areas of the code refer to "answer" and others refer to "question") - I'm not too sure this is the best option....
The code I've provided here doesn't yet display large numbers of choices very well on the screen, and it doesn't include the "limit" feature that I want to implement soon....
- to install it, copy the files to the mod\choice dir, and then go to the admin page of your site.
