Hardware and performance

Hi, currently am a final year student in uni n hv to do the project. The client wants us to help them to build a moodle. However, am not good at hardware part n hv no idea what really fit a company which around 1000-1500 users' moodle. How much does it cost? N what kind of server they hv to buy around??
