Found a way to hide them. Set the hasauthor and haslicense to false in your repository code when you the list element for a specific file.
It's not listed on MoodleDocs, but this page has an example of how to create a list structure for a single file.
Word of caution though, hasauthor and haslicense may soon be deprecated, as per MDL-33358
