Thanks for such a detailed reply - it certainly is a small world - I've just bought your excellent book! I didn't realise you were so close to us at Blackpool and The Fylde.
We've had Moodle since 2005 so we are certainly in need of a relaunch. We are upgrading to 2.2 and migrating a massive amount of courses and data - a lot of it old and out of date.
This year we developed an audit tool to automatically assess moodle courses on content and activity - this has given each course a benchmark so teachers know where there up to and are motivated to improve their content and delivery but we still have a long way to go.
Although we are going to 2.2 we've installed Davo Smith's drag and drop functionality so are hoping to use that as one of our 'Wow' factors.
I really like the idea of getting the staff to login as learners first. Is there a Moodle 2 features demo course I could download for that purpose or is it better to build my own?
I'm really excited by Workshop and the conditional activities but I'm thinking of leaving that for the initial training and having shorter sessions based purely around those tools.
