I'm pleased to announce that when Moodle HQ ends support for Moodle 1.9 security issues in June the Moodle Partner Catalyst IT will provide long term support for serious security issues with Moodle 1.9 until Dec 2013 thanks to funding/sponsorship from Totara LMS
We will monitor all serious security fixes applied to stable releases and apply those fixes (if required) to the 1.9 branch - we will also address any reported serious security issues that only affect the 1.9 branch.
The code will be available from the same place as usual, via download.moodle.org or git://git.moodle.org/moodle.git
Thanks to the team from Totara LMS for providing the sponsorship to allow this to happen!
Catalyst IT is an authorised Moodle Partner with offices in the UK/AU/NZ.
Totara LMS is a custom distribution of Moodle targeted at the corporate sector.

Thanks a lot guys, I'm sure that will help quite a few people who can't upgrade to 2.x for whatever reason.

Good news, thanks a lot, Rosario
Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
A huge thank you. We are doing a phased implementation to Moodle 2 and this will give us a bit more breathing space
Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
Great news for all concerned.
Hopefully by that time the last group will finally be off what I call the "legacy Moodle code" ;)

Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
Hi Dan,
thanks, that is good to hear. We had already decided to tough it out until Sept 2013 but this is good news.
Collective sigh of relief from many here at MoodleMoot Ireland too!
Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
That's really great news for us! That you very much!
Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
Hi Dan,
That's great news! I'm sure you're making a lot of Moodlers very happy.
Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
Wow, that´s really good news !
One more wish: If we can keep the old course file repository optional in moodle 2.x, I think we will have a fair chance to switch without duplicating efforts.
Cheers, Marcus

Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
I don't suppose that this date has been extended recently at all?
Many thanks
Alex
Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
I don't expect it will - you still have 11months left but I won't be putting my hand up to extend support any further than Dec 2013 - it's really time to upgrade your site.....

Re: Moodle 1.9 Long Term support
Well it was worth a try. Our plan is just to start with a clean install of whatever is the latest Moodle release come the summer. I'll then rebuild any courses that the teachers want bringing over.
