Is there a simple way to upload MP4 videos into Moodle 2.2.1 add resource > File? I'm trying to avoid "Add a label, use the insert Moodle media button"
This obviously is a complex issue. I even notice a few unrepled to questions, so sorry for a new discussion. What I worry about is my feeling that I don't know enough (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing). I lived in a sheltered world in the past where hidden coders just made things nice for me. Plus iPad had not arrived and further disturned the world.
- I found the long discussion here on the question of best video format: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=143478
- Doce - Ways of displaying a video http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Video#Ways_of_displaying_video
- Docs - A bit ambiguous: there is the vagueness around the video option - http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/File_module_settings
- Docs - This page is unfinished: http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/File_handling#Add_a_resource_.28File.29_Different_media_file_types
As an aside: This last page says: "Metadata about each file (author, date, license, etc) and what the file is used for are stored in the database" Why cannot we upload a video file and Moodle extract the data for size. Then it just server up the video nicely in Flowplayer at the right size, with scrubber etc?
I have just uploaded a video I created with Jing Pro (Mp4) and got this:
When I load the page I see a quick display and disappear of the scrubber bar.
Things I have done: checked at site admin level, and all the plugins permissions etc seem to be set right. Checked the video as far as I can. Seems to play OK. I re-recorded a sample that was smaller. I have no access to the server, seems a standard Moodle 2.2.1 install.
I could not find anything in the help that says what the X means.
