Hello, I am working to find a solution for our school and one of the options on the table is a Dell PowerEdge T610 server. I have attachd the server info and I am wondering if is a suitable solution? Is it enough or not enough?
If it is enough, how much RAM should we be installing? Other options?
If it is not enough, do you have some suggestions on something that would be enough?
Thanks for all your help with this!
Configured properly it could be a solution. I have run simmilar hardware (DELL PET610 with 32gb RAM and 2x Xeon 2.4 quad core procs for 2800 users factoring 20% for concurency). Honestly for most enviroments it makes more sense to either go with a cloud or contact a Moodle partner.
Yes, that is an impressive piece of hardware. Well, as long as you can call a daughtercard hard, and this toothless chassis bites.
The software is a different story. I hope that you are not going to load all that bloat into your machine, that'll sink a freighter.
What was the question, whether these are enough for 3000 users? How greedy are they? If you've checked the initial pointers to this forum, you know that this group tries to "standardize" the user: http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Performance_FAQ#How_do_you_define_.22concurrent_users.22.3F.
I know, it's all jargon. May be you can describe how this machine will be utilized, from the users' point of view.
