Well it's a puzzle to me! Hope someone can help
Our Moodle site (1.9) hosts many different courses - HE courses, Apprentices, FE Courses and a Staff room/Staff training courses.
We are conscious that we need to start considering the move to Moodle 2.
Our strategy is to split our current site up into four (the four 'areas' listed above). We plan on creating a Moodle 2 site for our Staff, the thinking being that if they embrace Moodle 2, rolling it out to the other 3 sites in 2013 will be a lot easier.
My query is about networking and accounts. I need to backup some courses and install them into a fresh 1.9 site, which will then be updated to 2.1.
But what do I do with the users? Some courses have submissions and forum discussions and other user-content. Do I include Users in the course backup, or will the networking features 'link' the two together? We have used email-self-registration as our enrolment method.
Hope that makes sense. I would hate to have to ask our staff to enrol into their courses again, or to tell them they have 2 logins, or that their login doesn't match with previous work.
