Some feature suggestions for course list

Hi All,

This is my first forum post in here and I would like to make attention of the community about something I have done in recent past.

I have seen and used moodle with in my university (it is currently using version 1.9.2)  and one of a major problem faced by both lecturers/teachers and students (us) is the long course list when the time goes on. As my level 3 project I have created a modified course list which is suitable for our university (which uses module codes for courses).  Some features of its are,

  • Allows user to hide/show courses which already are completed.
  • Courses are categorized according to the level/year they belong. (Required a module code for courses to identify the level)
  • A G-mail like feature which indicates how many recent activities are happened since your last login inside paranthesises.
  • Allows personal customizations for users and customizations for administrator as well.

Project source can be found in here. http://code.google.com/p/moodle-advanced-course-list/

Brief project description and some screenshots can be found from my personal bloghttp://uisurumadushanka89.blogspot.com/2011/02/moodle-advanced-course-list-my-level-3.html

But this version works only with Moodle versions which are less than 2.0. Unfortunately Moodle 2.0+ has gone some changes in structure, hence this will not work in new versions. Also I observed that moodle 2.0 course list is actually a tree rather than separate block.

So, I would like to know applicability of these features in the moodle new versions and also I like to know community idea about this.

- Thanks

Isuru, this is not the correct place to put this request/question.  Move it to

1 - the moodle development forum

http://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=55

2 - general problems

http://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=50

3 - contributors forum

Not sure which forum is best for this.  This is the moddle page where you can see all the forums.

best of luck
