I am maintaining a 1.9 site in which we work with 'course originals' and copies. A new client gets a copy of a course with the name of his instituiion. The content of the course consists mainly of quizzes with multimediafiles.

Now there have been some major changes in the content (new regulations for First Aid procedures) and I need to update parts of the content. I have 6 course originals and about 3 copies of each original which also have to be updated.

I only worked with Course categories in the question bank. Changing a question in the original of a course does not affect the same question in the copy. (Somehow these seemed logical to me...)

Is there no way I can edit the questions in original and copies in 1 go?

Or can I rearrange categories first in some way so there is a supercategory where I put all the questions in? I have a feeling I should have done this before copying or even while making the course original!

If I would upgrade to 2.3 I could put all the questions in a sitewide pool but the copies of the courses would still be unaffected I guess. I could solve the problem for the future though, be upgrading?

What do you recommend? If I stay at 1.9 would it be a good idea to rearrange the questionbank in a course category above course level for the course originals anyway so in the future I can edit a question and have it change in all the courses where it is used?

I find this whole questionbank stuff pretty complicated.
