When I restore a course that uses the book module into Moodle 2.2, it restores as a webpage and not a book. I was successful in restoring a course in Moodle 2.1 but not Moodle 2.2. I have copied the book module into the Moodle and am able to create new books but the restore is not working properly. Any ideas how to fix?

In our case, we converted a site with all its courses from 1.9 to 2.2. I can add new books, but books that were part of existing courses do not show up.

No I have not heard and really need to find out how to get this to work. Several of my courses have books as part of the course.

We have started over again to look at what we can do on this. I don't have an answer though. Just commiserating. Here's hoping....
Here is a workaround, but not a great solution:
"It is possible to export as an IMS package and
make a couple of tweaks and then import.
http://docs.moodle.org/en/IMS_content_package".
You do the following:
- in 1.9 save each book as an IMS by clicking the little icon in
each book.
- they get saved as a zip file.
- In the IMS file is a series of directories, each is a chapter in
your original book. Once in 2.2 just import each chapter into your
new book."
