I tried to allow self enrollment but it seems my students do not receive the welcome message with the enrollment key.
I wanted to set up the self enrollment plug in settings, but is so confusing. It is not clear What should I enable and disable to send a custom registration email to students.

have you gone into a course, clicked on Settings>Administration>Users>Enrolment methods, and then clicked the pen/hand icon next to Self enrolment and typed in your personalised message?
