One tip for learning at this stage - and without the risk of crashing your
main site again - consider installing XAMPP on your PC and installing
Moodle as a localhost. You then have full control, irrespective of the
hosting company (there isn't one involved) and can have an experimental,
learning area without putting your main site at risk. It's also very easy
to wipe and reinstall if you do manage to turn your site to garbage! lol!
If you are running Windows, check out the moodle.org downloads area as they
have some windows packages built with XAMPP already - if you are running
mac/linux (or prefer to set it up for yourself) just do a google search for
XAMPP.
I use it on a linux machine for just about all my development work, and I'm
sure many others on here use it on their various OSes as well smile
