Sorry for all the mistyping... Tried to type on an Ipad to fast!
Some extra info: I disabled "Show score after each correct answer" in the configuration screen of Hot Pot, but Hot Pot then refused to pass the score to moodle! When I enabled this option, everything with scorm went back to normal.
Why are you using Scorm to deliver Hot Potatoes? Maybe you haven't realised the Hot Potaoes Quiz is a core Activity in Moodle 1.9 - but it does have to be activated by the Admin: Site Administration > Modules > Activities > Manage activities and click on the Hot Potaoes Quiz "eye".
I'm very much on the same wavelength as you about letting students have as many attempts as they wish without penalties. Hot Potatoes is not quite perfect for that but it is pretty good. You should be able to turn off "Show score after each correct answer" without preventing the score being sent to the gradebook. I don't think I've had any problems. I have had to "hack" the source files in some cases to make the scoring invisible. I can send you all my modified source files privately if you're interested. They do include notes to myself in the form of a word document which explains what each is intended to do and how but I can't guarantee they'll make sense to someone else.
I tried a lot of different sourcefiles you sent me (thanks a lot!), but I'm getting desperate...
You wrote me:
" ..... [link] you see a "discreet" (my spelling mistake above) "Questions completed so far: 1/17"
..... [link] no feedback, "source_jquiz_qbutton_nofdbk" score goes to Grade book.
Neither of these would go to the Grade book in QuizPort."
I don't understand: which score goes to gradebook?
Maybe you find some time to give an answer on the following :
1. I realy want gradebook to display the score of the hotpot pages. I think that is only possible if I put the checkmark in hotpot to show the score after each answer, isn't it?
2. I don't want to show hotpot the score on top of the quiz or in an popup. I managed, with your help, to disable the popup. The feedback is important, so written on top of the quiz. So far, so good! I only don't want the quiz to show the score (in percents) at all in the quizpage, only in the gradebook.
Can you tell me how to disable displaying the score in HP, write it to the gradebook, and show the normal feedback...?
No, there's no problem about not having the score shown after each answer - the final score will go to the gradebook.
But I don't know how to show feedback but not the final score at the end of the exercise. I too would like scoring to be controlled completely separately from feedback.
Maybe this discussion will help: How to hide score in OK box of JQuiz
Or perhaps Gordon knows - he usually does.
Sorry I can't be more useful.
Sorry, JaapJan - I see you've already participated in the How to hide score in OK box of JQuiz discussion.
I'm soon going to be going through all my old exercise and updating them. For some I feel feedback in pop up-boxes (or more discreetly in the instruction area) are pedagogically useful and for others not. Also for learning exercises, students should be able to find the score if they really want at the end, but that it shouldn't be "shoved in their faces".
