I certainly enjoy rubrics in 2.2. However, there are some strange things happening. Maybe illustrations will help. Has anyone else noticed this?
First, notice that if a student doesn't send in the file for grading, the teacher gets the following:
If I click this button, I get the following:
While I understand the logic of this (preventing teacher from grading prematurely) there are two problems with that idea.
First, some students may have intended to send in the file, but neglected to click the final "send for Markup" button. This could be devastating to their grade, because as a teacher, I would like to see what they did, but am prevented from even seeing the file. Secondly, when the deadline has passed for their assignment.,I think it would make more sense to automatically allow the teacher to see the file after the deadline. At least this would allow the student to get SOME points! But as it stands, the teacher has no recourse except to fail them for non-submission. I don't think this is entirely fair, especially as students who didn't submit a file at all would get the same mark as a student who at least attempted an upload but failed the last step of sending for markup.
Finally, there is a small bug that happens if, while grading, I click the "Save and Show Next" button without selecting the rubric criterion. The form adds radio buttons and forces me to choose the radio buttons instead of allowing me to just correct my mistake and click in the rubric cells as before. The trouble with this is that I can ONLY give them a ZERO, even if I gave them the very least number points from the rubric chart, Moodle still calculates a zero. I can't even fix it by trying to update their grade. This ought to be fixed so at least I can give a manual grade.
