Is it possible for a student to create a portfolio in moodle where he uploads documents that can be seen only buy a teacher and not the other students and he can recive a review for his work?

Can a proffesor see the personal files folder of the student?

Thank you.

Hello Catalin,

What you describe reflects, up to a certain point, the functionality of the "Advanced uploading of files" assignment type. If the portfilio is to be limited in size (no more than 20 files), you could use this assignment for the purpose within one course.

If you need a true portfolio, to be used throughout the studies of a student, the best solution would be to set up a Mahara environment and network it with your Moodle. Mahara is a dedicated, open source, e-portfolio which can be closely integrated with Moodle.

And to answer your last question, a professor cannot peek in the private files of a student (or else they would not be private), but a student can submit files from their private files and link to them too.

Rgrds,
Paul.

I found a good way to do it whit the GLOSSAR Function, the advatage is that it is easy to upload doc's and it has an alphabetic idex wich can be used to easily search for a certain Student and the teacher can just reply at his portfolio for advice.

The problem is that i want the student to be able to access just his personal portfolio and to be restricted from viewing or downloading the others student's files and there portfolio commentaries from the teacher.

Can it be done through codeing?

Thanks

Hi Catalin,

For such an activity, I prefer the Database module with separate groups. Each student is one group. Students will not see what other students have submitted. If you want to check what a student has submitted, you will select his/her name at the top.

With kind regards,

Hartmut

Hi Catalin,

No need for coding, if in the settings of the glossary you set "Approved by default" to "No", each entry will only be visible to the student who added it and to the teacher. The teacher must keep in mind that she/he should not click the "Approve" icon on any entry, since then that entry will become visible to all.

Rgrds,
Paul.
