Does using HTML editor kill ewiki text markup?

Does using HTML editor kill ewiki text markup?

If a wiki page is created or edited with the HTML editor, it appears that all subsequent edits must use the editor as well.  At least on my moodle/wiki combination, if I attempt to edit a page with the simple text form (no HTML editor...my preferred method), all the html markup is inserted and the simple wiki structure is indiscernible.  Is this "just the way it is", or can one reclaim" simple text markup that respects the ewiki syntax?

A second question: if a wiki page is created using ewiki markup (i.e. no HTML editor so no html markup in the first place), it seems to ignore blank lines when there should be paragraph breaks.  I can force a line break with "%%%", or insert a <_p>, but of course this defeats the purpose of wiki markup.  Have I missed a setting?

I'm using the wiki module that ships standard with Moodle 1.4.2+(2004083129). If it matters, I have the TeX, algebra, wiki autolinking, and glossary auto-linking filters on.

Thanks for any insight.

Moodle's cool...
