I'm developing a new block to be used on the My Home page but I want to have the block default to the main content region instead of the side bars. I see there's a way to set the default for a theme, but I want to set it for this specific block somewhere in the block code. I could have sworn I've seen this somewhere, but can't find it now. Any help?

I have exactly same requirment to show a block on my home page as a content rather than side bars . Had you found solution? How can we set default region of a block to its content? Please reply ?

If by my home page you mean the front page than you need to modify the theme and add to the front page layout a center region either above the site topic or below it or both..
