There is a module for 1.9 called EasyVoter. We have upgraded to 2.1 and miss the functionality. This module works with any browser, including phones. I am not sure if this helps, but it can't hurt to take a look at the code.
What plugins for 3rd party clickers have you found. Would you mind posting links?
