The Problem: I have created a custom role and want to assign a user to a specific course using that role. However, after enrolling the user, I log in as that user and the course is not visible.
To create the role, I just used a copy of the editing-teacher role with no changes. (I'll change the new role later once it is displaying - trying to create a teacher's assistant role that is somewhere between editing-teacher and non-editing-teacher)
I then went into a course and assigned the role to a student. (Course > Administration > Assign Roles > Select new role > select student > etc...
I then logged in as the student, but I could not see the course in either the front screen (list of courses) or in the 'courses available to you' block.
What step(s) am I missing that will make the course visible to the student under the custom role?
