Two quick comments:
1-Unfortunately, this problem probably occurs with adults as much as with teenagers.
2-I think the best "prevention" is pre-emption. Make a very clear comportment policy for your course that everyone must agree to before participating. Fortunately the new site policy that will be available in Moodle 1.5 should make this a lot easier to do.
