I would very much appreciate any help / advice on the following (and please bear in mind, these aren't my figures - but the people above me).
- We are looking to launch a new installation of Moodle 2.0, complete with a Mahara SSO environment.
- At launch, I am being told we have the potential of signing up 100,000 users (I know...)
- Within 2 years, we are looking at anywhere up to 2 million users worldwide (don't ask)
- My boss is adamant that Blackboard can handle such a huge number of users, and will be far more cost effective than what seems to him to be expensive Moodle hosting.
Has anyone any experience of launching a new model to large number of users? My common sense tells me we should start on some robust (but comparatively cheap hosting - say $15,000 per annum) - and then increase this IF we get the users? Rather than hobble our plans now by moving to Bb.
Can anyone offer any advice / figures / case studies to help me fight the Open Source corner!
Thanks in advance!
