Possible for teacher to be notified before messages sent to subscribers?

Is there any setting that would allow for the teacher (i.e. moderator) for a discussion forum to receive a notification that a student had posted on a forum (either a new topic, or a reply to an existing one), such that this notification would be receiving PRIOR to the cronjob sending out email messages to all forum subscribers?

Although the teacher/moderator can easily delete any offending posts, there doesn't seem to be a way to do true damage control if a post has already been emailed to all subscribers.

One obvious solution is for cronjob to delay sending until a long delay (i.e. 24 hours); then teacher could manually search forums for new posts prior to this.

But that's far from ideal.

Any suggestions for better moderation prior to the auto-sending of emails?

Depending on your Moodle version, you may want to use the Forum post approval patch and also refer to http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/CONTRIB-1085

I'm using 2.1.  I checked out the Patch; it seems to be for 1.9.  Any idea if it would work with 2.1?
