Importing lessons from one course into another

Importing lessons from one course into another

Hi all,

I'm running Moodle 1.9.15+ and am working on a course that wants to take some great lessons created in a separate course, incorporate them into the new course and upload this _new_ course on a different server.

The issues: 1. When I import the lessons I lose all the graphics. [Now in fairness, the file/folder structure is NOT the same between the courses. I do not want to go through all 50+ lessons and "relink" graphic images.]

2. I want to make sure I import the whole lesson (with all graphics, questions etc.) and make sure it is not still linked somehow to the parent course (where the original lessons were created.)

So, if I go through the Import process, choosing on the lessons I want from the course I want, and proceed to 'unzip' them in my target course, will all the graphics be there? Will they NOT be linked to the original course? If you can point me to more resources I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you!

Hi Penny,

When restoring a Moodle backup file to Moodle on a different server than the one used to create the backup, the absolute referenced links to files maybe broken.

To fix this problem open the backup-coursename.zip file and edit the moodle.xml file replacing links with $@FILEPHP@$.

For example, replace http://yourserver.com/file.php/243/ with $@FILEPHP@$

When the file is restored it will use the correct file path for the new course.
