Echoassignment merged with standard assignment

We added Daniel Miksik's NewAssignment/EchoAssignment to the standard 1.4.3 assignment (thanks for the great code, Daniel!).

Now "Review and Upload" become a choice when creating an assignment, and if you choose that you get the EchoAssignment.

You can convert standard assignments to echoassigments just by making this change in the assignment settings.

We also added a custom scoring feature, using that you can have any score you like for an Assignment, from 0.01 to 999.99.

It's in CVS/contrib (in about 6 hours. Docs with screenshots are in there too.

Enjoy and let us know if there are any problems.

Should install normally in 1.4.x, check it out on your test site first though!

I don't know if you know but I've been trying to get a refactored version of Assignment finished for 1.5 ... it will use a simple class system just like Resources, so we can have plug-in assignment types.

Have you guys got time to work on this approach instead? The old assignment module is a complete dead end ...

Hi Martin, I know, but we needed this this semester and it only took Michael a few days (we can't just update to a new moodle version mid-semester, it freaks too many people out--we had a few steaming phone calls just on the movement of the resource menu between 1.3 and 1.4

).

Anyway, he is starting on another project now (a peer review system for group work) but this could come in as an assignment - class type if you have code that he could start with?

Hi Michael,
great to hear that, I'm going to try it out. Just two things:

Yesterday, I posted a new version of echo-Assignment (fixing a small bug in lib.php).
If you have what I don't - the programmers, could you please consider adding two features I've had long in mind?

Batch download/upload of submitted assignments/feedback files.
Model situation: At the submissions list page, the teacher clicks any time on a button to download all the submitted assignments in one zip file to their local drive (the files are renamed to match this format: "assignment-ID_user-ID_name-of-the-file"). Then the zip file is decompressed, the individual files are worked on and saved at the local drive; then they are zipped up again by the teacher, and by clicking another button at the submissions list page uploaded to the server, unzipped and put in the right place according to the info contained in the filenames (plus the upload time is recorded in the database).
Obviously, there is a more precise analysis needed, especially regarding (not) overwriting previously uploaded feedback files, etc., but we could elaborate on this if you like the idea.
Versioning.
Some members of the faculty asked me for a versioning feature - they would like to keep track of the progress of a student's work; i.e. new submission does not overwrite the previous submission, and the record for every submission contains: the submission, feedback, grade, feedback file, and perhaps a student's reaction to the feedback.
I think this would require changes to the submissions page layout and other modifications but I would like to hear from you and others what you think of it.
